BBC F1 are reporting that British race car manufacturer LOLA are planning to come back to f1. On the face of it this seems like a good thing… Only thing is Grid:Walk remembers the last attempt!
![]()
The Mastercard LOLA F1 team planned to enter F1 for the 1997 season and they made it all the way to the grid in Melbourne, well ok, not to the grid. Both drivers Ricardo Rosset and Vincenzo Sospiri (where are they now eh?) failed to qualify in what was an absolute dog of a car.
We never saw them again. The team said that sponsors Mastercard failed to pay and they couldn’t afford the trip to round 2.

That gets me thinking, cue an F1 reject teams series…

Saturday’s fantastic qualifying has left us with a superb grid and the chance to see what could be one of the best F1 races of all time!

Vettel’s pole was not a shock (as the BBC have been calling it all day) but a realisation that Red Bull are real contenders for race wins this year. Add that to the real shock of the day, Fernando Alonso’s 2nd place, then sprinkle a bit of heavier Brawns 4th and 5th and garnish with forecasted rain showers… what do you have? PURE EXCITEMENT.
In years, many years, I have NEVER been so excited about an F1 race. Roll on 7am!
THIS IS F1!

Great, Live practice…
Great, Replayed practice all day!…
Great, Loads of programmes…
Baaad, so many things.
Here’s one for starters, watching Inside F1 this evening, a race preview show I got annoyed.
Of course the talk was about diffusers. Presenter (name escapes me) turns to John Watson and says ‘Now I didn’t even know what a diffuser was 2 weeks ago’.

Excuse me? Didn’t know what a diffuser was? WHY ARE YOU PRESENTING A SHOW ABOUT F1 THEN!!!!!!
Alot of fans didn’t know what one was, fine, but when you are PAID licence fee money to present a show about F1, either learn about it properly, OR just don’t admit that you haven’t got a clue!
Annoying.

Grid:Walk have nothing against Jonathan Legard, BBC’s F1 commentator, BUT we believe BBC Radio 5Live’s David Croft would do a much better job!
Join our campaign to do the swap!
Above video has David Croft audio, below, Mr Legard… You Decide!
